Join us at the ELECTION MARATHON, where we will witness a defining moment not only for Turkey but for rest of the world. The election will weigh heavily on security in Europe and the Middle East. Who is elected stands to define: Turkey’s role in the NATO alliance; its relationship with the U.S., the EU and Russia; migration policy; Turkey’s role in the war in Ukraine; and how it handles tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean.

We will talk about the healing nature of ingredients in Iranian dishes, rituals and myths around Nowruz, and read Hafez poems. With commemorating the victims of the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria, we join in celebrating Nowruz alongside these cultures, sharing in their rich traditions, delicious foods, and meaningful rituals. Nowruz is the beginning of the year for several nationalities and ethnicities, including Persians, Kurds, Afghans, Balochs, and so many other communities. Nowruz means “New Day”, and it marks the Spring equinox, defeating the winter, resisting, and refreshing.
* Jumping over the fire is a traditional practice that occurs during the Persian New Year celebration, known as Nowruz. It is a symbolic gesture of purification and renewal, meant to help individuals start the new year fresh.
