Floor On Air

Floor On Air is a soft invitation for moving bodies to meet in a temporally gravity. Allowing it, for a moment, to move freely within the concrete surfaces of the institution. Floor On Air will continually appear and disappear throughout the school year, inviting different bodies to host, to be hosted, to join, to gather and to move together.

Soft yoga (1.5 hour): Encourage and allow the body to unfold and release tension, inviting the mind to rest — an introduction to restorative yoga. All levels, all welcome.

Dynamic yoga (1 hour): Energize your body and quiet your mind — an introductory class to the ancient tradition of yoga. All levels, all welcome.

Erika Doucette is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher (Level III). For decades, and in different countries, I have worked the cultural sphere (arts, education and translation) and engaged in struggles to create better ways of living in this world together. At the same time, I have taken a deep dive into the ancient tradition of classical yoga. I am constantly deepening my own understanding through my daily practice, study and teaching; and through regular study visits to the Iyengar Institute in Pune. I have taught workshops and courses internationally; and currently hold regular classes at the autonomously-run social center Pieter Nieuwland in Amsterdam Oost (yoga@nieuwland.cc)

Both Robins and Etays class will be inspired by gaga, a movement language to create more awareness of the body, listening to the body, sensations and qualities.

They transformed this to their own personal movement research and discoveries to come closer to the body and discover endless possibilities.

Etay Axelroad is a choreographer, dancer, movement director and gaga instructor (since 2015). Born in Romania 1995. Graduate of Blich high-school dance major and recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship in 2013. Worked as a professional dancer with Batsheva Dance Company & Ensemble, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, KOR'SIA and L-E-V (Sharon Eyal & Gai Bechar).

Robin Nimanong (He/She/They) develops his work in the field of society and queer art, to aim for unheard voices to be heard. Robin danced for Batshevas Ensemble and worked with Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal and Roy Assaf and became a certified gaga teacher. Currently Robin is teaching his own method since 2021 I-AM (improvisation, awareness and movement), nourished by his experience as freelance dancer. How can movement come from the body and take care of itself? Robins research is somatic, and searches for the visceral information of the body. Robin worked with: Eldad Ben sasson and Liat Waysbort, Ivgi&Greben, SHIFFT - Jasper van Luijk, Dries Verhoeven, VisaVis (Almere) and Nicole Beutler.
